Robert Vingoe 1909 - 1962 
 
Born at Penwith House Newlyn, June 2 1909. First worked as a errand boy on a bike for W & S Stevensons bakehouse & stores,Newlyn. He was later their Fish Market Auctioneer, travelling with the fleet to Plymouth for the winter herring season. It was here he met my mother, Elsie May Easton, in 1932. During WW2 he was first assigned to the Home Guard and afterwards into the R.N. He was initially a despatch rider between the Naval bases at Newlyn and Penzance. Later he served on the Atlantic Convoys. He was taken ill and died within 5 monthe deom stomach cancer in march 1962.
